Bioluminescent Glucose Luciferin (BiGLuc)

Bioluminescent Glucose Luciferin (BiGLuc) is a novel bioluminescent glucose-uptake probe for real-time, non-invasive longitudinal imaging of glucose absorption both in vitro and in vivo. BiGluc probe has the highest sensitivity and selectivity to GLUT transporters among existing optical probes (1). Indeed, recent publications revealed that conjugation of large fluorescent dyes to glucose, disrupts glucose facilities transport and retention of in cells (ex. CW800-2-DG) (2). BiGluc probe is first example of the optical imaging probe that truthfully reflects glucose transport in vivo and could substitute 18FDG imaging.
